JPMorgan Chase faces lawsuit over 'Back to the 70s' bet

JPMorgan Chase is facing a lawsuit after making a "Back to the 70s" bet with a synthetic collateralized debt obligation (CDO) that went wrong.

"JPMorgan Chase acted recklessly and violated its duties of care and loyalty to PGGM when it bought CDS protection on overvalued mortgage backed securities," said PGGM's general counsel Theodora Sokolova in a statement.

This isn't the first time that JPMorgan Chase has been sued over its CDO activities. In 2013, it agreed to pay $13 billion to settle claims from investors that it had misled them about the quality of its investments.
